Cervical spine protection.


Watching ER makes me realise the massive amounts of kit that we may use in day to day medical practice. On the course, we take care to introduce our students to some of the things they may have seen before and how and why they are used.

It’s an exercise in learning, rather than a certificate in competence in these medical devices. However, exposure does seem to stimulate a thirst for knowledge and when you are going to study for MCATs or UKCATs your tactile memory might stimulate the recall of some esoteric fact.

Here, Holly’s fitting a cervical collar for me. As you can see, she’s done a good job of it. I only made Caylin stand up as he was getting dirty on the floor!
